SONY A7IV NEW Firmware Update V1.10: How to Update

Sony has finally released the correct version of the Sony A7IV update. Formerly, Sony released an update for its A7IV but they took it back because it was glitchy. But on September 8, 2022, they resumed the update with countermeasures to avoid the issues in the devices as you can see in the notice given by Sony.

You can now update version 1.01 to 1.1 and if you purchased Sony A7IV late then you may have version 1.05 which is not available in the former cameras but can be updated. Another awesome thing is, you no longer need a software to update your camera all you need is an SD Card.

So how do you update your Sony a7iv? Before we get started, make sure your battery is fully charged and do not remove the battery during the update. Let’s begin!

Step 1

The first thing you need to do is to format your SD Card. This can be done inside the camera and will erase all the previous data from the Card.

Step 2

After formatting the SD Card, then download the Software in the SD card. Before downloading make sure at what version you currently are and download the software as per your version. After downloading copy the software directly to the SD Card.

Step 3

After copying the software, put the SD card in slot-1 of the camera as just this slot recognizes the software.

Step 4

Open menu in your camera and go to Setup. Open Setup options then open version where a button for software update will be visible.

Step 5

Press the Update button and read the precautions and then execute. After starting the update, the screen will go black and the access light will start to flash. It will flash one, three, and five times in intervals depending upon the progress of the update. It will take approximately 6 minutes to complete.

Please note that if the access lamp repeats five long blinks (0.5sec. cycle) and six short blinks (0.25sec. cycle) then the software has not copied properly and you have to remove the battery and start over. Once the update is complete screen will pop up.
