The Sony a7iv has a new firmware update (v4 as of the publishing of this post) and it comes with a major feature, Focus Bracketing or Focus Stacking.
With in camera Focus Bracketing, you are able to take many images that once combined will form a focused image over your desired portions of the frame. This is very useful for landscape and architecture if you want more things in focus. This is exceptionally useful when shooting macro subjects as you can get more of the subject in focus using this method. Focus bracketing also allows you to use your lens’ sweet spot so you are able to take advantage of its maximum optical performance while keeping more of your frame in focus.
You will need to do so post-processing on these photos which I go over in the video below using Photoshop and Lightroom.
Happy shooting and enjoy this new feature!
